If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.
~ Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Estrada
As a 21st century educator, it is my goal to promote higher education through technology in order to prepare our students to be better citizens by teaching them the way they learn.
This generation is fully immersed in the world of technology; it plays a prominent role in every part of our students’ lives and they are constantly using it either by texting, facebooking, instant messaging, watching shows on the internet or listening to music on their iPods. Therefore I believe that we as facilitators should embrace the concept of integrating technology in our classroom as it will help to enhance effective learning by catering to the needs of our digital native students as well as their different learning styles and their multiple intelligences.
Educational Technology is beneficial as it makes learning fun, and meaningful. It provides authenticity in the teaching and learning environment and promotes constructivism that will allow students to be responsible learners by encouraging them to develop their own image and work hard to achieve curriculum or specific objectives.
I believe that for integration of the technology to take place I should use adequate and effective resources that are needed to facilitate students’ learning needs. Additionally as a role model I must ensure to apply appropriate computer ethics and also ensure that my students are following examples.
